Hey all!

Planning a trip this spring/summer from Calgary down to Yellowstone (Wyoming) and then cut east to Mount Rushmore (South Dakota). Not sure where else to go/do around that area??? Any thoughts, suggestions, recommendations?

Thinking a week long trip or so.

Thanks!

The Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody Wyoming is pretty impressive..has an incredible collection of firearms, etc.

Deadwood in South Dakota is worth a stop (or layover). A old western town with casinos and variety of food establishments.

Hi Sushi:
That will be a beautiful trip. South of Mount Rushmore is Custer State Park, with the largest herd of Bison in North America. Drive though there - and stop at Crazy Horse Mountain. That was an on-going project to carve a full 3D sculpture of Crazy Horse out of the mountain.

I agree with the above. There is a myriad sights to see in this area. You might try the Devil's Tower in eastern Wyo (where Close Encounters of the Third Kind was filmed), Badlands Natl Park (east of Rapid City), the Wahl Drug Store (on way to Badlands), Wind Cave Natl Park, and Sturgis.

IMO, the Crazy Horse monument is an expensive, rip-off as nothing is really going on except the curio shop. That being said, the night laser show is really worthwhile. Also, don't miss the night show at Mt Rushmore.

Have a great time as this is beautiful country to see.
