let's have a thread collating all the info on rotors. I'm sure a few of us are about to swap them out, and they are not cheap.

Let's make sure we have all the info prior to msking the investment.

Also we need to paste options from stock.

I've found these IRotors. Never heard of them But at about 2k for front rear and pads they are a good price.

If you ever hear of anyone using these, please post the info. I'd like to know the diffrerence in feel between floating and one piece rotors on the same car. I'm really impressed with the stock pre 08 brakes. If they performed as good as those, I'd buy 'em in a second.

I see these rotors and they come with the semi-metallic pads. Now, I also see alot about the Quad-quiet Ceramic Break Pads, as a better option for R171 . Would it be wise for one to purchase this package all at once or is it possible for one to just get the brakes, then get the rotors later?

What are your suggestions when it comes to rotors and breaks?

I have to get ceramic breake pads, cleaning breake dust every day is pain in the:butt:. Dos MB use inferior break pads??
No they use pretty good brake pads, with the philosophy I guess that to have good stopping power, a little dust is created. I don't mind the dust too much.

I was in a local dealers today and asked about the rotors and they quoted $630 each for the front excl fitting and tax.. Interesting to see how this compares.

I use P21s on my Mercs. I used to wash the wheels with my wash mitt and it was a total PITA. Now I just spray some p21 on and use the sponge that comes with the stuff to wipe it down, then hose everything off. I've got some photos to show you what I mean - but the photos show my C280 - either way, there's enough MB brake dust in the pics to prove my point!

Nice rotors, would be good to get those on the rear of a 55 and gives weight savings whilst looking better than OEM - no centre bell to rust as mine does frequently. I was looking what I will do once the front discs are past it, I suspect i will go AP with purpose made bells as the AP rotor is better quality than the OEM and about the same price.

I've wrote to evo-sport to see if they have some of the floating rotors to fit the front.

Edit:

Following this it seems EVOsport don't make these rotors although there considering it.

see this forum to poll your interest and maybe we can sway the breakeven charts... http://www.slkworld.com/amgs/9412-register-interest-evosport-front-rotors.html

They will also current provide the OEM Rotors at $665 each which I think is similar to my local MB dealer.. The chaop I spoke said he would make me a good deal with a package.. front oem, rear evosport, all pads and braided lines.. we will see how that goes.. :tu:

see if you can get performance friction z rated pads for the standard calipers on any of the slk models.

they are whisper quiet and produce pretty much no dust. They also have amazing fade resistance making them very decent for fast road/track use.
