brake light intermitant failing

Hi all

Dreaded light failure light on dash board told me the brake light was playing up again. Driver side brake light seemed to be lazy coming on. but was working and then 2 days later not working at all . The bulb is ok and the holder seems ok too.
So I decided to investigate today as we had good weather (not raining) today.
Got the lens off the car to scrub the connections but found it has melted a hole in the metal and also slightly melted the plastic. So I think it is a new lens I need.
Just in case I thought I will change the brake bulb holder for the reversing light holder . Got it working after a bit of fiddling about but not fixed . I think it will play up again. Reversing light working fine with old brake bulb holder .So I know the holder is ok.
So anyone know how much a new lens is ? Hopefully MB have made them better by now.
Also have a problem with indicators on driver side not working with the alarm. Indicators and hazards fine. About two weeks ago with lots of rain and use they started to intermittently work so I know the connection to the alarm is there. It seems likely something got wet and they started working a bit, But now back to the passenger side working and other side dead.
Alarm siren is new and this is not the reason because the old siren didn't flash the indicators on driver side either.
Thanks for any advice

I'm not sure of the price for replacement tail lights, but have a couple of ideas. I believe that there was a recall on R170 tail lights a while back. Not sure what years though. Perhaps yours was recalled, but never taken in for the service. Call your local dealer, give them the VIN and see what they say. If replacement is needed but no luck with the recall, there are lots of online parts sources, as well as eBay sellers. Then you can always check auto salvage/junk yards in your area. Good luck.

Are you speaking of the marker light in the mirror not working? Will it ever go on? When ichris93 got his facelift model, the light in his driver door mirror didn't work..... It was the ground located in the kick panel. Secured it and the lights work fine.

Thanks for reply
Only on the alarm. Left side all work. Right side front rear and mirror not working. Might be worth checking the kick panel though when the weather clears a bit. wow very wet here today. At the very least it might sort one of the three out lol.
