In regards to noise, not so much my SLK230 but my W204 C63 and AMG GT S are notorious for brake squeal. Both use two piece rotor and Brembo as OE.
Mercedes has a recommended Anti Squeal Paste 001989945112. Prior to my last brake service for those vehicles, i went to dealer to purchase some, he instead comp'ed me a couple of single use packets of MOC Quiet Brakes. Both Brembo boxed rotors/pad also came with Brembo B-Quiet treatment. I opted to use the Quiet Brake—three years on fo the C63 and a year for the AMG GT, they've both stayed squeal free.

That's what I got (see post #14). I'm not super-happy with them. Discs I guess is .. "fine" but..
I did miss read. I have TRW on the rear and very little dust. So they must have change them. Akebono are not available for the rear on my year. I would try the paste, it does work. When I was young, pads did not come with the paste and they were very noisy. When the paste came out it was the difference between night and day. I even put it on my RV. Good luck.

What I learned was that you put normal copper paste on the back of the pads, where the piston work on them. That's what (is/was supposed to be) makes the squeak.. Or so I was told..

You're not incorrect. I didn't use the QuietBrakes on my SLK, just copper paste since i've never had issues with squeal or noise on that car. It was for my C63 and AMG GT since they were noisy even after brake clean and a reapplication of copper/brake lube.

Could try Autodoc. Brembo discs around £50 pads £25-35.
I've put slotted discs on one of other cars. Really good. No worse for dust than anything else I fitted. Main thing that they stop you when you need them.

I tried some Pagid pads but now I have gone back to Brembo. Ceramic pads can overheat your disks and boil your fluid when used in constant heavy braking.
Try AutoDoc also, like EuroCarParts they have varying discounts from 20% to 50% just keep logging in daily to check today's discount.

Question. - From the Brembo info link. there are 3 different compounds of pads. Ceramic, Organic, and semi-metallic. When you buy new pads, is the compound specified, on the box, or on the pads??? And are the original MB pads (For R171 55 with P030) organic? Ceramic? or semi-metallic? Thanks for any info.(y)
