I had been experiencing the situation where the boot (trunk) locking latch mechanism would not "catch" when closing the boot. After a few firmer attempts it would eventually catch, but no more. So first off all I adjusted the latching eye and mechanism but this made no difference. I then recognized that the connecting bar to the key/lock mechanism was not returning the latch to the rest position so preventing the latch from catching.

I have dismantled the key/lock mechanism and find that even with lubrication, the connecting bar and receiving assembly has become stiff and the small spring cannot return it to the rest position. Also I notice that inside the housing it would appear that something has broken where the cam comes to rest.

I have fettled it such that I can open the book OK and to close it I need to manually turn the connecting rod back to the rest position.

What I need is a part number for the key lock mechanism so that I can cannibalise. What I need is the p/n for Item 1 in the attached picture, best seen in P88.50-0288-01.

Cheers.

Andy
