I spotted this one yesterday about ten in the morning, just before the summit at Sylvan headed inbound to Portland in the left lane. Lip spoiler on the trunk, Bluetooth in the right ear. Sunhilde and I came up alongside in the center lane and briefly took station on his starboard beam, but the driver never looked anywhere but straight ahead. :(

That's two SLKs in less than a week here in PDX, and I haven't been out much.

Ramming speed!!!!
I did succeed in not doing that, and I'm sure we both appreciate it!:rb

The fellow driving kept his focus straight ahead, as I noted...not so much as a glance to the side. I've noticed a fair number of drivers around here with that kind of tunnel vision; never looking at adjacent cars. Perhaps everyone is terrified of road rage, but IMHO it isn't wise to never make eye contact with other drivers nearby. A glance and quick eye contact can make a tight merge situation go more smoothly, for example. Driving philosophy lecture over.

coincidentally I got off I75 about an hour ago and stopped at the off ramp red light next to a 2002 slk 320. Of course the light just turned red so I had plenty of time to reach in the glovebox for my ample supply of slkworld business cards and proceeded to get out of my car and hand her one. the cars behind us must have said, what's going on. she asked about the site etc, and then we both took off. Hopefully she will post.

Just contacted SimplySLK, so cards are on the way!

Not that it would have helped much with either of my recent sightings, since it's awfully hard to hand out a card at 65mph on the freeway. To say nothing of freaking out nearby motorists or Officer Friendly, there's a serious risk of bashing the side mirrors! Can't have that, can we?

They slingshot pretty good at less than 45 mph!

or as your copilot, she can 'plank' over to the other car and hand the card over!

Or not. At fifty-ish, she's neither nimble enough for that nor possessed of that sense of youthful invincibility which might have inspired such shenanigans when we were young married kids right out of college. Of course, that was almost three decades ago and the thought of owning something like an SLK was beyond my remotest fantasy back then.:biglaugh:

No, I'm afraid I'll be either handing them out in person at things like Cars & Coffee, the Portland Historic Races, the Forest Grove Concours d'Elegance, and regular MBCA events; or sticking them under a windshield wiper anonymously.
