If you want aftermarket Brembo sell a 355mm 4 piston kit for the front and 324mm 4 piston kit for the rear in the GT range and AP Racing offer 4 and 6 piston kits in their Formula range.
Demon Tweeks have both in their current catalogue. They are not cheap though. The AP Racing setup is £3500 front and rear. Ouch!
And having been through the youthful exuberance of fitting big brakes in the past I now genuinely query their usefulness. They add weight, which is bad. And all most of them do is let you lock up the wheels quicker which triggers the ABS which knocks them off. So what was the point? Fade resistance? Possibly. But when did you last repeatedly brake so hard you had brake fade? I can't remember a time that happened to me on the road. If you track your car then fine, but I don't so big brakes are a bit pointless for me. They look great behind an open alloy wheel though
Well, if you start out with a set of 360mm discs/rotors off the SLK 55
R172 SLK 55 AMG '12-on Vented/Drilled Front Brake Disc - Mintex 360mm - that's £115
You'll then need a set of pads
Mercedes-Benz SLK (R172) SLK55 AMG (5.5) Brake Pads & Shoes from EBC is another £60
The big difficulty is locating the calipers. You may also need other parts eg. Carriers (but it doesn't appear so from the diagrams).

where can I find the rotor/caliper if the diskbrake for SLK55 is available, does it fit right in to our slk200? as I understand the caliper and rotor is different..Brembo make front brake kits for the 172, they are not widely advertised but are made up from kits for other MB models.
If you propose to make up a set, do make sure that the calipers and discs are a correct match.
If you buy 4, 6 or 8 piston calipers, they are complete, ie they do not need carriers. Carriers are only for single piston calipers.
The only option to match up the rears with larger discs is the TRW single piston caliper and disc from the M Class. No one makes a multi piston caliper for the 172 rears (D Brakes claim they have a 4 piston caliper, but requires their proprietary handbrake servo that is not compatible with the SLK electronics, so be careful)

Go to your local MB dealer and s/he will give you the part numbers for the bits you need - ask them to look up the SL55 parts list. For the rears, you only need the SL55 disc, calipers and pads, likewise for the fronts. Do not try to use the oem SL55 disc with another caliper - they have to be matched. They bolt onto the 200.

sure thing, let me check on it, the one installing will be a workshop that is own by my friend. so to say if I bought single piston instead of the 4pot will that be okay or not okay?I was given the part numbers by another member, Judgeming, but sadly I have lost his mail to check your numbers, but from my invoices, the rear discs and caliper numbers are correct, however, you will need two carriers for the calipers added: p/n 172 423 01 06. With these you are ready to go. Pluig and play is a loose way to describe it. Do you know the procedure to change the rear pads?
I recognise the number for the front disc - this is used a lot across the MB range. However, check out what the calipers look like. There are two types, and I have a feeling that the number you have, as it starts with 172, might be the standard single piston TRW type from the ML. The four pot Brembo type [I think] starts with a 221 if I remember correctly. Have another word with your dealer and ask to see the spec drawings for the SLK55 fronts.
sorry mate, bad english, I did not follow on this one :frown:No. I am saying that there are two types - I do not know which one the part number you have refers to. I think it is the TRW type, but you need to see the illustration with those part numbers to determine which it is.
