As I was driving on the highway the other day and again yesterday (Monday) the BAS/ESP light came on, both times I had just applied the brakes, however not that hard as I was not going over the speed limit at the time. Once that light came on I lost the cruise control. The brakes still work fine and when I stopped and restarted the car the light went off and stayed off the rest of the drive.

Question is why would it come on in the first place? What is in the wiring that might cause it to come on? And if it was something defective would it not do it each and every time I braked the car (Hard)?

Thanks

No I was on a Motorway quite smooth. What I need to know realy is even if the System comes on why does it not go off untill you stop the engine and re-start it?

Last time my bas/esp light came on was due to a bad speed sensor. It had failed but they are known (i believe) to simply get dirty. Had it come on last month and actually had it fix itself after I gave her a nice bath =)
