Hello all. I came across an SLK 230 in a barn that I deliver horse feed to. The owner wanted to trade it in but the stealership only offered her $2,000 so she kept it. Now she wants to get rid of it and, since I've been delivering to her for around 10 years, she's letting me have it for $2,200. It's Black, has a little over 89,000 miles on it, the trunk needs new struts, the headlight lenses have yellowed, the headliner needs to be re-glued (sagging but not ripped), the signal lights aren't working, the driver's seat is ripped up (just on the seat. The backrest is fine), and it won't pass Emmissions. So I've been searching YouTube and the foums for solutions to the problems. On the plus side, she recently had new brakes and rotors installed and the convertible top works fine. All in all, it doesn't look like the repairs will be too costly. The only Mod I'd like to do is to get projector beam headlights with the blacked out casings so that you only see the lights and Halo rings instead of a big clear lens. I'm picking it up tomorrow (6-27-15) so wish me luck.

Joe

Thanks. My cousin lives in Winter Haven. Maybe I'll drive the Benz down to visit her next summer and see some other SLKs. :)

Save your money and forget about it. 15-year-old cars stored in barns have a history of being very expensive to get in reasonable running condition. Another factor is there is nothing special about this car, so if it were in excellent condition, it wouldn't be worth much.

Actually the dealer offered her a fair price. She just wants to make a couple of hundred bucks off you with the idea she is giving you a deal!

Well, first off, it wasn't stored in the barn for 15yrs. More like a few months. Secondly, she's a pretty wealthy woman from Greenwich, CT. who doesn't need to get every penny from the sale. I'm pretty sure that since I was delivering horse feed to her for 10yrs., that she let me have it for less than what she would have wanted to get from someone else.

Ya... delivering "horse feed" ya... you old dog!! atta boy... wink...
The guy delivering dog food got the vintage XKE...
(kidding)

good to hear the roof is working well, and that it isn't really a barn find...

I guess I'd start with the fuses to see if that's what's causing the turn signals to not work - btw do the four-ways work?
