My Underseat Subwoofer arrives soon and I'm trying to find the easiest way to pick up a high level speaker supply.

I have Audio 20 (510) which is not Harman Kardon - so no amplifier.

If only I could find a wiring diagram for the speakers that would be a great help. It sounds like the woofers are in the door panels, if I knew the colours of the pairs going up to that I could tap into the loom without going down the route of removing the head unit.

Does anyone have any info that could help me please? I've search around the forum but can't find exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance...

Block A is out put, and block B is input.
You will need to remove the front part of your center console to get to the rear of the radio. This will take you about 10 mins to do it once you have done it a few times, get a large towel as well that helps. I remove the whole center console when doing any work it's much better for room and less likely to scratch anything that's why. It will only take a few more electrical clips to remove it completely.
Tools:
You will need good finger nails or a pry tool, a small flat blade or toothpick, a torx driver.
( if you want a sample size look under the glove box the 3 black plastic cover screws are the same size I think around T-20, that's how I find the right one before going in! )
a Small probe or toothpick or flat blade driver to undo the pesky electrical plugs, a container and towel.

My Advice,
Actually I just did this today as I wanted to find a constant and Accessory positive wire to permanently wire my dash cams. I was stuffing around so much in the passenger footwell tracing back wires to the head unit and I almost pulled the Big square plug out, but before I did it I said to myself just remove the console, no more twisted back hanging upside down, my glasses falling off and loosing a good test earth, it was so much faster and easy to work, I got my constant positive, my Accessory from the cig lighter, and my earth from the factory earths down by the side of the console easy! Hope this helps you to decide just take the console out!

Thanks to you both for the feedback.

The console removal doesn't seem so bad, so I'll have a look over the weekend.

I'll take a few pics along the way.....

Interesting...my preferred ICE installer, an recognised MB electronics specialist, told me a (decent) sub wont fit under the seats...better and easier to fit to the passenger footwell.

i would advise against Halfords as the MB circuity is very sensitive to fudgery and bodging.....

What functionality / connectivity do you want?
  • ipod?
  • bluetooth?
  • CD?
  • DAB?
  • are you ok to lose the SD card?
  • are you ok to lose the hard drive?
  • do you want to maintain the steering wheel controls?
  • do you want to maintain the "in dash" display?

Deciding the above will help narrow down the choice of units..

I'm using a Pioneer’s TS-WX130DA - Guess it's not so decent.

It sits suitably behind the seat and just about fits below. I'll be trying various locations based on how it sounds/fits.

i hope a passenger doesn't whizz the seat back all the way ;)

Yeah there is also a cavity where the Auto start battery goes in the models that don't have the auto stop function, i was thinking of putting a MDF board with lining over it with a 8" sub there, if I couldn't fit a slim line under seat sub, the other place I was thinking was a MDF panel over the fuse box in the boot there's a bit of room there too.
