Just ordered some in CarbonStyle Plus

Got normal carbon on her already...wanted something a bit meaner looking.

Anyone have it in carbon plus already? Easy install? Any good? Quality? Pics?

Thanks for the tip.

REALLY gotta stop spending money on her. I just can't stop. New rollbars coming this week too. Oooops. Finger slipped on the "order" button. I promise.

And - still gotta get new rims and tyres. And a new end pipe for the exhaust.

Can anyone recommend a good rehab facility?

Update on the trim I ordered from Cockpit Design in Germany.

I ordered the R170 set in Carbon Plus. Really nice people and came really quickly (I'm in Germany.)

I received it today and sent it straight back :-(

1. Really disappointed to say that the fit was not good at all. I tried just the coin box trim and it was too small and didn't look good. I could see the old trim for at least 3mm all around the front edges. Not acceptable for me, I'm afraid.

2. Also, on the central radio trim - I have a 1999 pre face lift SLK 230 with only 2 rocker switches either side of the hazard light switch ( 2 x heated seats / 1 x ASR off and 1 x central locking) - on the available trim set I ordered for the R170, there were pre-cut outs for 3 rocker switches on each side. The trim came with cut out stickers to plug these (2) holes, but I don't think that would look good. I didn't like that.

3. The "carbon" material was very thin and not of a very tasteful quality. I don't think it was worth the 74 Euros it cost.

Just giving my honest feedback to the community.

Me again.

So, the latest update is that Cock Pit design is refusing to refund the money. I have already returned the item.

As a gesture of goodwill, they have offered a 40% refund, which I will refuse.

I would not recommed this company - mostly because the trim is, in my opinion, poor quality material and badly fitting; but also because their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

So...now to fighting them in German. Wish me luck.

Sorry for your issues. I just posted the link that others have used. Maybe others can come forward also with their experiences.

Tell em the power of social media. Facebook, forums, etc.

If you're going for the 3M sticky-backed plastic fake carbon, then its very cheap to buy a roll and fit it yourself, typically about £15 per sq meter. A hot air gun makes it very soft and stretchable, so putting it over dash panels is simple.

I shocks me to see what some places charge to put a sticker on a panel.

Yep...you're right. I could have done a better job of it than them, I think. Looked like a 5 year old cut them out.

Still waiting to hear back from them about a full refund....

In the meantime...decided to forget the cheap sticker option and go the whole hog. See pics. Bought completely new trim for the whole car in brushed aluminium. This is the first piece we (he!) put in on Monday. Rest of the pieces arrived today. CANNOT wait to put them in.

Will look better when all of it is in....but could not wait for all the pieces to arrive and this way, I could get an idea of how it would look

Anyone want a complete set of the carbon look trim? LOL. I have ALL the pieces including door trims and vents.

Thanks MichaelV8V :)

I love it. Really makes the interior pop.
This pic is with the complete middle trim done.

Just waiting to put on the door trims.

A bit of jiggery-pokery was needed cos it's for a post facelift 170, I believe, but it worked with a bit of persuasion. Meaning - the gear trim opening was slightly bigger on the post facelift 170 than on my OEM pre facelift 170 carbon look trim one....but a bit of diy and it fits fine.

Complete set cost 196 Euros in total. Found parts in Germany and parts of it in England to make the set. Also saw some on the U.S. ebay, fyi.

What I like about it that it is real brushed aluminium metal and not plastic like my OEM was. Better quality feel.

Capitol Car Spares in Leeds U.K. have some really good parts for MB and this trim. Really nice people and really quick shipping. Was very happy with them.

And really happy with the look of it.

Thanks....Aston Martin is pretty special :)
