I found an slk at the local junkyard, the trunk is locked and I’d love to check for a tool set or other good stuff! I asked them and they said they can’t get in, they said they struggled with the door lock. Anyone have any ideas?

On a working trunk, take the inner cover off that covers the locking system and you will see the rod that goes from the soleniod to the lock. Now imagine a hole behind the license plate that would allow you to insert a screwdriver to push the rod. Take a few measurments so you know where that point is.
Go to the junkyard and drill a hole .....

Drilling a hole is not weird. Been suggested many other times as a solution to that problem.

Agreed, in fact you have to do that to get into an S Class Boot / Trunk when the Lock Barrels are (usually) seized and the Battery goes flat, the trick is in knowing exactly where to drill the hole ;)
