Hi All!
I've been lurking for a little while trying to gather info for my next purchase. I've only test-driven a '13 SLK 250 with manual transmission and a '14 SLK 350 with automatic transmission. Those test drives told me that I want the power of the SLK 350, but I have to have a manual transmission - so that puts me in the market for an '04 - '07 SLK 350. My major concern is buying a car that old with the usual high mileage that older cars have. I understand these cars are expensive to repair, so I'm in a quandary. I could probably live with the newer turbo SLK 250, but I'd rather have a naturally aspirated car. Anyway, I'm still looking and haven't decided which I will purchase yet.

About me - I retired from the US Navy as a Commander in 2014. I'm now working for the Government as a Program Manager. I live in Maryland, USA. I have a wife and 3 kids (2 are already out of the house). I'm in a serious Mid-Life Crisis right now! I drive a 25 year old Toyota pickup that I bought new. I've always relied on my motorcycles for an adrenaline rush, for having fun and for traveling. My old truck was always good enough, so I've never owned a nice car. I have a bug to get one now, though, and it's biting me hard! I'm stubborn and won't buy a car with an automatic transmission. It's just not the same as with a manual... I realize this limits my options, as I mentioned above. I really like the SLKs. I just wish Mercedes still made the 350s with manual transmissions!

Welcome from Wirral, England.

You're amongst many bikers on this SLK forum.
The two marry well.

Jeff has already got you on course for a successful purchase and
making use of the datacard is a wise move.
The new/used check list is good to do too.

Once you have the car have a look at our free competition.
Free entry runs to the 15th, followed by a member poll after that.
