There is an air intake mod for the R170 but it won't get you anything without the ASP pulley. My buddy Steve Johnson on B/W did this mod plus many others, i believe he also posted some dyno results.
I was thinking about running another cold air feed, and plumbing it to the stock air box. I did not see a lot of improvement on the forums from using cone air filtters, so I thought running more cold into the stock.air box might work.
I have also thought about this, there is plenty of room and the one inlet pipe is so small....smaller than the intercooler piping im pretty sure and that makes no sense.
I'm not sure if you're clear. Just make sure you get 2 air inlet pipe into the airbox (kindna like the V6 & V8 air box with a dual air inlet, one on each side of the airbox). there's plenty of room for you to cut another hole in front of the airbox then find a flexiable hose attached it to.
