Checked the air filters today while I had the engine cover off. See attached. Is the 2/09 shown on the filter the date of manufacture? That's my guess, but I just wanted to verify. That will at least tell me that the car saw some service last spring at least, likely from the dealer knowing a little about the previous owner.

Let's make sure we're talking about the right numbers. I'm talking about the 2/09 that you really can't see until you click on the photo to enlarge it. It is under the Mann information. I've got to think that's a date of manufacture no?

I replaced my OEM air filters in my SLK32 today. The print on the side is different than yours, but I think the small numbers to the right side could be dates: Feb 2009 for you and June 17 2008 (or Aug 17, 2006!!) for mine. My filters were very dirty, more so "in person" than the the pic below shows. Obvious that it was BS that the car was serviced in Jan 2010 just before I purchased it.
