Hey guys so I just bought an 1998 SLK230 and got it services and the aircon re-gassed.

The car seems to push out hot air even when the air con is on when under hard acceleration and then takes some time to come back to cold air. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Also i had both my front and rear pads replaced as the mechanic told me the pads were cheap nasty ones that had metal in them that caused the brakes to squeel...it is still squeeling after 250km with the new pads in them..any ideas?

But I wouldn't just start throwing parts at it. That can get VERY expensive very fast. The duovalve can be taken apart and cleaned up. That may tell you if that's the problem or not. A search will give you the particulars. When you say "re-gassed," the question is why? There obviously was leak. Was it repaired correctly? Is this mechanic a Mercedes specialist? That's often where owners get themselves into trouble.

The car was re-gassed cause the car is 14 years old so figured it would be best to start off with something simple. That has made the aircon a lot colder! My mechanic is a merc specialist who also does ferrari's, porsche and a few other exotics.

Okay, good, sounds like you've got a mechanic who isn't going to be learning on your money. If "re-gassing" made the car a lot colder, then that means that the refrigerant was low. That means there must have been a leak. Was that addressed/fixed?

the drivers (right hand side) air vent sometimes will also pump out hot air whilst the middle and left vents are cold (when set to the coldest setting). Any ideas what it could be?

That's typically either a system low on refrigerant or an issue with the duovalve. Did it just start after your "regassing" or was it an issue before that?

I'm not sure if there is a check for it. You can take it apart and clean and lubricate it. You can see if there is any corrosion on it that might be holding it up. I'm sure there's a lot of good posts about it via a search.
