I did a quick search but couldn't find much. I'm wondering if anyone has added one of those low profile powered subs to their slk and if so, where did you put it? I know some have added them in the trunk in the spare tire well but I'm not looking for that much punch. I've got a Kenwood hu running into the stock bose system and my idea is to take the sub outs from the hu and run them to a powered sub and disconnecting the factory ones.

Thanks is advance.

I haven't got it installed yet as my install appointment is this coming week. But what I am having them install a Cerwin-Vega 10" low profile powered sub in the little cargo net behind the right seat.
Obviously I can't tell you how it sounds right now.

I'd be interested in hearing how this goes (not actually hearing  ) but how the install went.

Pics would be nice upon installation. Got a link to the unit you're installing?

Is this it?

Dedgar, that's what I'm thinking of. We'd love to see pics of the install and your thoughts when it's done.

Thank you.

I did briefly look at a Focal sub when looking at speakers for Silkie.

It has a built in amp too, but in the end I went with Morel Tempo Ultra 602 speakers and dynamatted the doors and found I didn't need a sub at all. :)

What did you drive them with? I've heard they sound nice but they aren't super efficient which means you'll need a fair amount of power to make them sound good. I'm also looking for a little more bottom end and it looks like these are spec'd at 60 hz. They don't say what the slope is but guessing it's 12db or more, they probably don't do much under 75 hz or so.

They're specced at 55Hz so are only 3dB down at that point. The Focal sub only goes down to 45Hz and it's not clear what the Cerwin Vega sub will manage although I suspect around 40Hz. In all honesty I wonder if I'd benefit from the expense and fitting of a sub for an extra 10Hz?

I've dynamatted the doors so they act as an infinite baffle with a better seal than the normal door, so you're right, the rolloff is -12dB/octave.

The Morels are rated at 90dB and are happy enough running from the head unit but I am looking to drop a Genesis Profile 2 under the passenger seat which should improve the dynamics.

I really ought to finish my write up and get it on the forum.

Did you ever get this installed? Curious as to what you think of it.
