Access to HVAC Control Module?

Okay, this is my first request for help so lets see how it goes. I can't find anything on the forum or the web except for a couple pictures.


I think the HVAC control module on my 2001 SLK320 may have a stripped gear. I hear a clicking noise from behind the dash similar to what I had on another vehicle with a defective "heater blend door actuator". Does anyone know where the unit in the attached pictures is located and how to access?
