Autoexpress has posted a review of the new all wheel drive A45 AMG:

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mercedes/a-class/64300/mercedes-a45-amg

they also did a drag race against the CLS 63 AMG

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mercedes/a-class/64437/mercedes-a45-amg-vs-merc-cls63-amg

its tested performance figures are very close to the slk 55 amg's - 4.1s to 60 (same as C & D got for the slk) and the standing quarter was 12.6s @ 112.5mph (vs 12.5s @ 116mph in C & D for the SLK).

Very impressive little car - especially given it has all wheel drive too

Those 2 pages are currently down...maybe they'll be back up in a couple hours.

Other than that, I actually think the A45 is quite cute, and with AWD, a nice competitor for Audi S3 and the likes, but I wonder how it compares to a BMW M135i Hatchback?

having seen a couple A250s in person, the car has really grown on me, but I can't get used the long nose, which I suppose is necessary because of the FWD platform; you'll see both the A class and the CLA both have really long lower intakes on the front of the car to hide it, but when you see the car straight on from the side it's unavoidable. MB didn't release any official profile pictures of either cars until the cars themselves were released. I wonder if the wonky proportions will lead to strange handling quirks?

The BMW has horrendous looking headlights, but has a much nicer profile, and is much more tunable with a 3 liter six cylinder, whereas the 2 liter 4 cylinder in the A45 and CLA45 is probably tuned near the limit.

The pages are back up again now.

I guess we'll find out pretty quickly how far the tuners can tweak the boost on it.
