Hello sexy people of SLKWorld!
I have discovered yet another fault with my SLK. While changing my spark plugs and installing new air filters, which my car needed badly apparently, I noticed a small oil leak.
This is located at the rear of the engine, passenger (sitting in car - right side), at the top right behind the rear-most cylinder.
In the past, mostly during highway driving, my car would sometimes warn me that my oil is low therefore I should add some. When I would check at my next opportunity the oil level was either perfectly fine or (on one occasion) did need to get topped up a little. Throughout the course of last summer I used 1/2 a quart of oil to keep my car at the proper oil level.
At the time of this post the leak seems benign at worst. The only real issue is the annoying "add oil" warning when there is no need to.
Here is what I would like to know; what is this part, is it DIY material, is it worth the time/cost to fix, and what are the implications if left unchecked?
As always, your time is very much appreciated.
Regards,
Ak
