Hi there!

I just picked up my SLK 250 CDI last week from the dealer.

Whilst I love the car already, I can't help but think I've been fobbed off by the salesperson.

My car is brand new (from stock) however after reading up and doing some research I've found that there is a newer model out - the SLK 250d (9 speed)?

can anyone tell me if I should have been sold one of these instead? and if there's anything I can do now after taking delivery?

Thanks in advance!!

Head straight back to your dealer and ask them before you put anymore mileage on it :D

I wouldnt have thought so...........as you stated it was "in stock" and I assume that you got a good discount on it???????????

The only comeback I can see you would have is if they told you it was "the latest model" or indeed stated it had a "9 speed box".

Thanks for the response - the deal I got was essentially what is listed on their website for the latest model and the list price looks the same to me (haven't calculated with all the options).

No mention of a 9 speed box.

I did at one point ask him to confirm if it was brand new (I guess technically it is) but he did not explicitly state that it was the latest model - but surely that's what a customer should expect when going to buy a brand new car? especially with all this new 'treating customers fairly' stuff from the FCA recently.

Hi and welcome from the UK Midlands! :)

I'd suggest a very quick visit back to the dealer to express your dissatisfaction with what they've done... Personally, I'm not optimistic of the outcome, but it has to be worth trying/asking... Probably best to ask to speak to the Sales Manager, rather than the salesperson you dealt with. I think you'll find that they may claim you bought the car that you paid and signed for last week. I think it's fairly common practice for dealers to sell from stock as a new model is about to be introduced, although one might expect to get a better deal than list price on the outgoing model.

Also, when expressing your dissatisfaction to them, it might not hurt to mention that you're a member of a global SLK forum, and you'll be mentioning their sales process, and the outcome, on that forum!... Good luck!! :tu:

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but we collect a 250d with the 9 speed box on the 7th of July from Mercedes Glasgow At no time during dealing with them did they mention the 250cdi or 7speed box.Bought the car new and that was the current model being sold.

AAAA was yours built to order or from stock?

My thinking is that if selling from stock they should at least have to mention that it's not the latest model/version?

Thanks for all your help!

I am not sure you can do anything about it. If you purchased the car that was offered to you. If the Dealer implied it was the latest model it may be his word against yours. As for exchanging for a new one, I don't think they will go for that, 'Second Hand Old Model' for a 'New Model Car'?
Give it a go, you never know. My Mum said, 'If you don't ask, you don't get'
Good luck:grin:

I would go back and make a fuss and suggest you'll take it to Mercedes UK, dealers are under great pressure to provide excellent customer care. You should have least had a good discount in my view. Good luck.
