Just bought a 98 slk230. Has some issues. 112,000 miles, roof pistons leak, some rust starting. door panel was unglued from heat, but removed it and used hot glue to reattach the plastic retainers and separation of panels. Good as new?. Fixed a vacuum hose, washed out the MAF sensor(was giving an engine light code).. Fog lights don't work. No manual with the car. What does the 2 fog light indicators mean, one green one orange on light switch. Where would the fuse be for the fog lights, didn't see it under the hood. Ordered the roof hydraulic fluid $9 and piston repair kit ebay$29. This car came with amg rims and emblems but not fancying the rims.

Welcome from Sweden!

I hope you'll get her up and running in good order.

I haven't given the fog lights indicator much thought myself... I'll have a look in the manual and let you know what it says if you don't get an answer by anyone else soon

Hi and welcome from the UK Midlands! :)

I'd expect the 2 fog light indicators to be for the fog lights... one for front fogs and the other for the rear. I can't remember which way around they are, and I'm out of the country on vacation and away from my car right now, so can't check for you...

The fog light indicators...

The manual says: When you have the lights on, pull the switch out one step and the front fog lights will turn on (green light). Pull it one step further and the rear fog lights will also be active (Yellow light).

Manley, the car seems to be a good one. i knew it had a few issues as the milage indicated it had been used by a doctor for most of its life, then traded in at auto dealer and then 2,000 miles over 4 years.
it gave a engine light after driving 200 miles, code was mass air flow sensor, which are know to get dirty/oiley. a can of cleaner and easy to clean. also noticed a loose plug on coolant temperature sensor at radiator. a bunch of lights were not working, blinkers on fenders, fog lights,(the wire to fog lights where it enters the foglight housing is a common spot where the wire breaks. i just bypass the connector on the housing and make a small slot next to the connector to run the wire into the housing, quick simple fix). rear fog light i have not yet located but believe it is a bright reverse light perhaps?

the roof pistons leak at the passengers side forward in the trunk. ordered the $30 repair kit with all 5 seals so ill do all 5 pistons.the hydraulic fluid from my local dealor(Smithtown New York) was $9.20, lists at $11.50 and the part # is 000-989-91-03-10

the passengers window needs adjusting as it goes up 5mm to much so the window will rest outside of the weatherstrip when door is closed with window up. another easy fix as the window stopper just needs adjusting down 5mm. good thing i have worked on cars for many years or this would be expensive repairs. anyone that needs help with how to remove panels correctly please feel free to ask ;) other than that i have to drive the car to reset the sensors so i can get it inspected.

the weekend is here! cant wait to drive!
