Hey Steve, there's a chance I might be able to hook up with you guys.

After the So Cal trip I was thinking of going to Lake Tahoe for a few days (21st wedding anniversary), then back down to SF for a day. I've been itching to drive top down on the Golden Gate bridge and catch some pics there.

Hi Peter. Tahoe is beautiful, one of my favorite places in the WORLD. But, if you haven't done the wine country in a while, it's gorgeous as well. Santa Rosa (Sonoma County) is close to everything in both Sonoma and Napa Countys. It would be such a great, relaxing vacation with excellent food, beautiful sights, great golf courses, numerous spas and of course enough wine tasting to keep you happy the whole time you are there. And then when all is said and done you are only about 45 minutes from San Francisco. Heck, it would be such a lovely trip you could almost skip the Sierra Nevadas all together.

Hi Steven, the last time I was in wine country, I did a little too much sampling. Driving through there in a Porsche, on winding roads, a girlfriend in the car, I was like...zippity-doo-dah!
Oh well, that was then. Lake Tahoe has always been a favorite of mine also. I had a place in Incline Village for about 10 years..used to golf and snow ski..a lot. I always thought I was going to retire and live there.
Wifey also likes the gaming..

Do they still have oysters in Tomales Bay at this time of year?

Hello Peter,

If you could at all make it, I think the 7/21 drive and visit to the 300SL museum is going to be great! Not that I might be biased having arranged it...LOL! :biglaugh:

The lunch spot is a beautiful golf course as well...

The initial response is good with 8 cars already committed and I just sent out the notice...:burnout:

Oh yeah, lot of info here:
Tomales Bay Oyster Company

Wish Stinger had a day off to join us too...

@Motzkoman.... are you able to give waypoints to us for R172 nav systems so we can put them into the MB nav unit? just curious - that way I won't have to do gps on the fly if I decide to hang out in the back.

I will pull something together with a few ....;)

Here they are...it is important to remember that when we get to Calistoga, we go through eastward until we pick up the Silverado trail, which we stay on all the way down to the museum. GPS sometimes wants to take you back to Hwy 29 or other more "main" roads.

Bad Ass Coffee, 90 Mark West Springs Rd, #100, Santa Rosa, CA 95403

City of Calistoga

ConnCreek Winery, 8711 Silverado Trail, St. Helena CA 94574

300SL Museum, 2545 Napa Valley Corporate Drive, Napa, CA 94558

Eagle Vines, 580 South Kelly Road, American Canyon, CA 94503

GPS autocorrects if you're off-route though so once you're on the ride route, it will recorrect itself. is this accurate?

It should, but sometimes, with a more major route like highway 29 paralleling the Silverado trail it will reroute to that.

In any event, these waypoints willget you there if you get separated ;)

A drive map with directions and locations will be attached to reminder emails and can be printed.. :burnout:
