I live in South Bay, SoCal.

I owned an SLK 32 AMG before my current AMG.

My current rocket is an SLK 55 AMG, in black, with black/gray seats. Picked it up 3 years off lease.

Dealer sold me a slight bill of goods - the 'down' paddle shifter apparently had coke or something sticky in it, if I clicked it, the car would go right down to first gear and not come out. Dealer refused to fix it, even though the car was 'brand new' and certified. This was Fletcher Jones in Newport.

I also didn't get the wind screen or pen :) but everything else worked fine.

I've had a few issues with it - was T-boned in a parking lot (woman was going 30-40, blew through a stop sign). Crunched the left front; got it repaired. Back is still occasionally sore.

Then, just last year, I stopped on the freeway; car behind me stopped. Car smacked into her, she hit me. Car that caused the damage was a hit and run :( (makes me think I need a dash-cam). Lost the 500 deductible of course. Car is all repaired now, but the top wouldn't go *up*. They replaced a lot of the back end - big shout out to Y&S in San Pedro, they did a good job (other than breaking the plastic with the seat buttons, which now flops around). Car tracks well (always did).

I'm currently self-employed, and will have to start doing some maintenance myself; joined the forum to see how to change the spark plugs. I also have to change the fuel filter and some other misc. stuff.

No mods on the car to speak of ... yet!

Holy cow, what a warm welcome! Thanks everyone. You guys are amazing.

Welcome from North Carolina! I am intersted in why you sold the '32?
Well, I got an 55, that's why :) Actually, little things on the 32 were starting to 'go' ... had a problem twice where it locked me out of the car, one time with the top down, and had to call a tow truck. Dealer swore there wasn't a problem.

Didn't really plan on trading it in, but while at the dealer having the radio looked at (3rd time) found the 55 coming off of a 3 year lease, and got that.

I do like the styling a little better, although I always like the rear quarter panels of the 32.

The 55 is a tad faster too, although I did like the supercharger.

Just my opinion ... I don't see a huge need to upgrade this one - especially as I'm looking for employment right now :surprise::|:frown: at least I'm still R)
