Hello all...I have been reading a lot on the forum about tire sizes...seems most people want the rear tire to be as big as possible (265, etc), for more traction and so forth...am not racing this car, not so sure i should be worrying about traction from a tire that big.

Am thinking the opposite, i actually want to go down from the stock 245/35-18 to either 235/35-18 or 245/40-18 in the rear...mainly because i plan on driving in the rain and the snow with all season tires (unless i decide to buy a different set of winter rims & tires)...plus i figured it would weigh less than a 265 tire.

Question is, does anyone have any experience with 235/35-18 or 245/40-18 in the rear?

:)Bigger tire size than factory is not always better. One size up is OK. I definitely WOULD NOT go smaller than factory specs for any reason. Stay with the factory 225x40x18 front and 255x35x18 rear.

Alright, sounds good. I think my factory rear is 245x35x18 though....from reading other threads, looks like i should stick with 225x40x18 all around, if i get a second set of winter tire and rims.

Also, the tire selection in 235/35/18 is extremely meager.
Yeah, I wanted the ExtremeContact DWS tires, however they’re not available in my oem rear size (245/35/18)…so for this tire, the closest options are 235/35ZR18 or 245/40ZR18, not sure with is better/worst in relation to closeness to OEM size....so if i am to stick exactly with oem size, then i need to find another brand i guess.
