 Hello I just bought from the dreaded ebay UK a 1997 Mercedes slk 230. Auto box Blue with black and almost white interior....Loads of trouble possibly.
£850.00 + £80.00 for transportation to my mot mechanic in Blackburn for assessment..He has done a pre mot and tells me engine is sweet as is the transmission..PHEW...Bodywork is good only a small amount of rust on nearside front wing/fender where it meets the bumper..Interior is poor with the console and attached strips peeled..I have instructed him to remove the offending parts which i will have wrapped in 3D carbon fibre..A low cost fantastic finish...Better than trying to re-paint plastic...I will also have the door pull handles re done as they are bad...Other faults are roof not working..Rear passenger Quarter window is loose and drops without any electrical input...Just seems loose and not connected to the motor at all.. Abs light on so i will start with the various things i have learned from this site already...Great looking car and i have always wanted one of these as a winter project.
Brakes, suspension, exhaust, superb..80.000 miles..A Bargain I hope
Hope to pick all your brains over the coming months.

Me Too.
Worked all day on the car taking the interior parts out for the wrap project.
Decided to save some money and remove it myself.
Not easy lol..But interesting.
Welcome to you too.
Thanks.

SLK R170 1998 Nearly Finished..Can-Bus Fault To K?

Hello Again..I have tried to start a new thread without success.
After a few months work on the Merc she is Nearly completed..
Got the roof working by re-seating the Rear quarter lite window..Sorted The ABS fault with 2 new sensors..
Re-covered the dash with 4D Carbon fibre wrap and it looks fantastic.
Had both front wings re-painted,
Restored the alloys.
New tyres all round.
I have a fault on the car where i accelerate hard...It Misfires then goes into limp mode but without the limp mode lights on the dash.
Took it to a local Merc garage and they pulled the fault code and said it was Can-Bus Communication fault to K which are the clocks?
They checked the wiring but found no fault...I didnt want to leave it for them to spend any more time as they said it would be expensive to trace..
Any Ideas/help would be appreciated.
Thanks
