I have the typical interior paint peeling problem. I was just about to order some touch up paint from Viponds when I noticed a post about different shades of Anthracite grey. The Russian website states that my car interior is 211A but a post (can't find it now) suggested that the grey on the top of dash and doors is a shade darker than the front of dash and center console. On inspection I think that is the case on mine. Has anyone had this problem? Is the lighter shade 221? I only want to touch up my console and under the ignition key rather than complete repaint if possible. What color should I order or should I just bite the bullet and repaint all (I see a guy had good results using an acrylic from a DIY store.
Any advice would be great!

I have the same color combo on my interior. The lighter color on the console, glove box and door panel is Anthracite (211A). It should touch up nicely!

There seems to be a lot of confusion on this topic. It seems to me (this is just my interpretation) that 211A and 221 are two shades of anthracite used by Mercedes at different points in time. I went back and forth some with VIPonds about the two shades and they have had owners with each color code send them samples and have color matched each with the colors being slightly different. So, my assumption is that you want to order based on the one that your car data sheet shows your car has.

If you go to this post (it's on another MB board, so if I'm not allowed to link to it the mods are welcome to edit this post): http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r170-slk-class/1274747-interior-paint-peeling-off-slk-230-a-68.html
it discusses this issue in tons of depth. The last couple pages include quotes from my conversation with VIPonds and some discussion directly about 211A vs 221. I have the paint sitting at my house and will be doing it some time in the next couple of weeks. I will post before and after posts which will hopefully give a better indication of how the VIPonds 211A works with a car which the car data claims has 211A.

Here is a direct quote from VIPond about the two distinct colors:
Until around 12 months ago we only had the one match (221)

A customer came to us and give us a sample to match because when he used the vin decoder it showed 211A when then verified this when Mercedes

From there we match the paint to the sample for 211A

I want to do some touch-up in my 2003 SLK32 AMG but don't see 211A or 221 as a color code.

My VIN: WDBKK66F284051 shows "881A LEATHER AMG ANTHRACITE/ANTHRACITE"

Which color do I choose?

Thanks!

You're missing a few digits in the VIN, typically they are 17 digits in length. Once you have the corrected 17 digit number combination try looking up your paint code here:

I take that you are looking for the interior color,
Here ya go VLC-COLOR Touch-up pen Anthracite (SLK R170, 11 ml) | VOLICO.de - von Liebenstein Consulting | Your contact partner for leather and interior paints for Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Porsche
I have used their paint & it was an exact match (color code 225)

Yes, what I am looking for is the interior trim color to touch up the flaking trim paint.

It says it is Anthracite, which I only see 211A and 221 Anthracite.

In the Data Card on my VIN, it is showing 881A Leather Anthracite / Anthracite as the color code. The interior is charcoal leather with a lighter gray trim which looks just like the Anthracite colors.

Thanks!

For myself with the same color combination as yours, I ordered the above. I have used it several times now, with NO problems and an EXACT match for the color. So go for it.......The worst thing that will happen, which in this case it isn't going to, is you will have some touch up paint for your seats and dash...........God bless....Dennis
