Sometimes, cars slip through the cracks.
FAST FACTS
Engine: 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder

Power: 241 hp, 273 lb-ft.

Transmission: Nine-speed automatic

EPA Fuel Economy: 25 mpg city, 32 mpg hwy

CAN Fuel Economy: 9.6 L/100 km city, 7.3 L/100 km hwy

US Price: 2016 Mercedes-Benz SLK300 starts at $47,925 after destination charges, $60,425 as tested

CAN Price: 2016 Mercedes-Benz SLK300 starts at $60,095 after destination charges, $70,385 as tested

This year was a really busy one for Mercedes-Benz. Most of the brand’s crossovers and SUVs received major overhauls and the C-Class continued to generate more and more variants. In all this madness, it seems the new 2016 SLK300 got swept under the rug. No fanfare was made, no press event was hosted, and no headlines were inked honoring the new baby roadster. Heck, even I forgot about the change from SLK250 to SLK300 until I picked up the car and noticed the larger denomination on the trunk lid.

clicky click

That is the 'Sirius XM' antenna that pretty comes with every U.S. spec'd car (which this one appears to be - LH drive). Not sure if it's even available for Euro spec'd cars, though.

If I'm right, this 2 liter is the same starting point that AMG uses for the CLA45 powerplant. Whether this is at all practical, who knows, but horsepower numbers would match the stock R171 SLK55. If someone DIYs it, they'd probably have a hard time spending less than getting a 55 outright.

Personally I don't mind even what the article calls an "anemic 201hp".

I'd hate to have to tell someone when they ask what you got, one tells em 241 hp. Then you have to explain the engine process to get up to where an AMG starts? I'll keep my baby ty :D

You're pretty much going to have to. Because there won't be anything over 3.0l from next year.

I've recently driven the GLA45 and it's a very quick car. 380PS from 2.0l is a lot, and it's reliable power too.

There is no reason why the biturbo V6 3.0l won't make 450PS or more.

The question is - "are you a V8 snob or do you just want to go fast?"

If you just want to go fast then the 3.0l 450PS engine will be lighter, more fuel efficient and quicker than the 5.5l V8.

It's just progress.

They do. Not for Sirius though. But for the in-car telephone. Option 386. Hidious thing. They solved it much better with the SL: placed the antenna's in the trunk lid.
