Hi All,

Having owned previously a 171 55 AMG which I had removed the resonator and second cats I had got far to used to the pure drama of the noise. Few months ago as some of you know I bought a 2015 SLK 55 AMG to replace the 171. Best move I ever made but the one thing that the car lacks is noise ! When its up to temperature you get some character from it but no, OMG !!

And for this reason I've decided to go for a triple resonator delete and x pipe ! Car is booked into Deutch Tech in Milton Keynes here is a link:

https://www.deutschtech.co.uk

They do some amazing work !

Booked in for the 19th Jan so looking forward to the results !

Here are some youtube clips of the car stock. I'll do some videos of the work being undertaken and the results !

Cheers,

Olly

Hi all,

Well today was D day, went down the Deutch Tech today for Dave to work his magic. Have to say his work really is a work of art. Beautiful welds and top guy to deal with. Highly recommended.

Work took about 3 hours so waited round a bit till it was time for first start up !!

What I had removed was the centre resonator and two silencers that are often mistaken for cats. In its place I had an X pipe. Reason I went for the X pipe is because as stock the exhaust gasses mix in the middle resonator. It would reduce performance if they where to be straight pipes. Personally I thing straight pipes would sound better but this sound isn’t bad at all.

It adds more wrasp, snaps and cracks on down shift. No drone in eco 4 cylinder mode pretty much the same. Bit more volume and just generally better.

Here are some YouTube clips I’ve put together.

@Zenman 63 - I like what you have achieved. What's the legal position on this and what sort of cost would you be looking at for this?
Thanks

I am putting a RENNtech EVM on my car. It will allow 100% fully open valves at all times or stock at a press of a button.
For some reason one or both valves were open when I drove on Thursday but after a restart it was back to normal. It sounded really good in S-mode but terrible at C-mode (I am always in S). Whenever I want I can go back to stock.

That the one they say for the GLC (that comes up when I search for R172)? I ask because R172 is not listed on their website.

EDIT--see post 18 for answer.
