Hi there, thanks for the info, budget allows me a September 13 (63) at best! No, it would be from an early May build week at the latest and many, many, diesel SLKs sit at the dealers compound for quite some time prior to delivery. You can almost always get a choice of diesels with immediate delivery from new whereas the petrols are 99.9% factory order only.
My last SLK CDi250 was registered on the 27th June 2013 and it had the rattly top-end engine. If you can stretch to a 2014 MY car it's possibly worth it. You won't know how much it bothers you until you drive it unfortunately.
Give it a go!
That would be pretty much all Diesel SLKs in that case as RHD cars only hit the UK in the middle of 2012.I was told by a dealer that the quieter engine was in cars built on or after December 2012 .
Mine 2015 is very quiet.
Michael.
Interesting, how do you find out the my build date of a car, looking at late 2013,63 plate cars but not sure the my is?That would be pretty much all Diesel SLKs in that case as RHD cars only hit the UK in the middle of 2012.
And Mercedes doesn't tend to change major components in the middle of a model year, so I'll stick by original statement that the change happened after the summer break in 2013.
This issue was discussed in April 2014 in this thread. As stated, my May 2013 built car was rough as a badgers bum but my current 2015 car is significantly smoother and more refined.
Sorry, but your dealer was incorrect.
Thanks for the info, will get vin nos of cars interested in and put them up-interesting regarding spare,do the my13 on have a tyre fit kit instead of a space saver? The easiest way to spot a MY14 car is it won't have a spare wheel.
If you can get the VIN then jbanks15 can get you everything on the data card.
It may also be in the actual VIN itself. The 10th character should be a D or an E. I believe D is 2013 and E is 2014 but whether that is the calendar build year or the model build year I couldn't say for sure.

MY13 has the collapsible spare tyre, MY14 onwards has a bottle of goo. For MY16 the space is filled with the adblue tank.do the my13 on have a tyre fit kit instead of a space saver?
I'm only going on reports. I've not actually felt a badger's bum. So you may well be correct.0WJA,
I am sure your correct and my Dealer chap was probably wrong as he was with most things he told me .
However i think your being a little unfair to Badgers.:grin:>
Michael.
I know what you mean about having a spare , Galaxy hasn't got one or anywhere to put one . But imagine your away touring the boot full of luggage and your space saver snuggly concealed in the bottom of the boot , under all the luggage. Pop a tyre goes you pull up pull all the luggage out put the space saver on then . Oh where do I put my punctured full size wheel won't go where the space saver was , never mind if it was the bigger rear wheel. I don't think manufacturers think things through sometimes .MY13 has the collapsible spare tyre, MY14 onwards has a bottle of goo. For MY16 the space is filled with the adblue tank.
You can add the spare tyre. I have. I think it's worth the loss of a little space for the extra guaranteed mobility.
There is a plastic bag to put the wheel in and then you're supposed to slide the passenger seat forward and put it behind the passenger seat. Poor passenger!I know what you mean about having a spare , Galaxy hasn't got one or anywhere to put one .
