I have a question for you guys about a Mercedes part I am trying to purchase from Europe and they are not willing to sell to me in the USA. The part Number is A172.885.06.81, its a european spec license plate moulding - about 20 euros. Is there anyway anyone can place one on Ebay for me to purchase? It would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Not sure if it is a rear or front. But if it's a front plate, and you live in the US and can get away without having a front plate, I suggest leaving it off all together and not destroying the look of the front of the car. I think cars look so much better with the full design of their bumpers exposed.

On the other hand, I am a huge fan of the R171 with her F1 style nose vs. the R172 where I think that they have butchered the look. So if you are trying to distract people from seeing that new schnozzola, then that's another story. ;)

When I bought my 2010 it was on the showroom floor and the dealer had mounted the US Plate Surround (along with the dealerships advertising) on the front. Right next to my car on the showroom floor was a 2010 SLR that had been pre-sold. It had stanchions with cords around it so you couldn't touch it. And it had no moldings for the front plates, just the beautiful design of the naked bumper. As I was making my "deal" I told the dealership that I wanted the front plate removed, the screw holes repaired and the front bumper repainted. They replied to me "oh we can't do that. It's a California Law that you have a front license plate". So I said, "then put it on the SLR next to me". Of course they would not, and they repaired and painted my front bumper.
