Hello all. I am new here and hope I'm in the right area.
I have a SLK320 I just bought. It sat for about a year but I just got it running today.
I took it on test drive and noticed it stayed in what seemed to be first gear. Even if I push shifter to plus side still only first gear..
Hoping to get some info on this.No check engine light on but it has ABS lights on and srs light on
Thank you

Yes and this place has SDS. So instead of me buying one for 400 to 600 I'll have it done for 150

One last try ....

SDS is not just a code / data reader resetter, it is the entire arsenal of software with loads of other processes that the MB Dealership has, plus some real tasty add ons that the dealerships don't have and all are very useful on all MB Vehicles.

This is your first MB, when you get it running hunky dory later on you will realise why they are what they are and likely upgrade to a newer model, for which it will be even more important to have SDS to be able to maintain it properly.

Myself and many others on this forum have more than one MB, I started years ago with one 2002 W220 V8 S55 Mercedes that no one had been able to get running (so called pro's) !! I got it running properly and I ended up doing the full resto plus a load of mods, I still own that Car today, along with 2 R170's a W212 E Class AMG Estate, and a Land Rover Discovery !!

4 X 150 = SDS Cost !!

SDS can be sold for at least what you paid for it if it's kept in good condition and demonstrated working to a potential purchaser.

Do you seriously believe you will not need this guys services at least 3 more times during the next 12 Months .......................

Sorry mate, it's a no brainer !!

I haven't sent my car there yet. I'm still looking for good deal on a SDS..
It's not a car I drive everyday
So not in a big hurry..
I'll keep looking for a good used one..

Ok I was told it's my Conductor plate on valve body. It's the 722.6 ?
I will replace that myself. I've watched a few YouTube videos and it looks fairly easy. If it's the 722.6 they are relatively cheap.. they come with filter and gasket..Some with new electrical plug.
But I already changed that
I recently picked up another Benz
(I'm a gluten for punishment lol)
A 2006 c230 sport.. It won't even turn over.I bought it very cheap 500.00 U.S
I hav a forum going on that one on the regular Benz forum..
It's conductor plate also
Must be a common problem in these Benz
Anyways my question is how to tell what trans is in the slk? I'm thinking 722.6 as it only has 5 gears not 7 will vin# of car tell me?.

Trans s/n (on the card) will then lead you to the version (which is not on the card). BUT:

722.618 to be exact

Ok
I was told by people 722.9 and 722.6
Hoping the last one.. much cheaper..
I'll check thanks
Maybe if I post s/n here someone could tell me ? I'm sure it's 722.6 it only shifts 5 times.. but it tacs at 2k when going 55mph seems like it should have more gears?
Thanks for info

If you already replaced it with a cheap one that right there could be the issue.

However, does the guy who did the diagnostic know that, I mean, AFAIK you have not cleared the previous Codes.

Also, it isn't quite as simple as the Videos appear for an inexperienced DIY'er.

The cheap ones are Chinese junk which have a very high failure rate / don't work outta the box !!

5 speed auto is always 722.6xx

7 speed auto is always 722.9xx

I missed that Maestro II ..............

I have R170 Y2k M112 that has ME2.8, I think there may be inaccuracies ;)

Could be, unless the really early ones had 2.0, could even be a regional thing 🤷‍♂️

I am still a member of ATSG, (well I can use the log in from my old Trans firm), and despite being a very good resource, there are often inaccuracies, more so regarding non USA Transmissions ;)

Thanks for the info.👍
By any chance do you have info for a 2006 Mercedes C230 sport?
I just picked one up cheap and was told it's conductor plate also that's bad
He thinks it's a 722.9 but not sure

He just did diagnostics and said it was plate. He said it was a 722.6 and he could change it for 700.00
He charged me 60.00 just to check.
I told him I'd change it myself.
He said if I send it in to be repaired. I wouldn't have to program it. Only if I purchased a new one.

I think he is right. The 5 speed tranny dont have the TCU embedded inside the transmission. It its in the car, the one practically infested with rats in your case.

£60 is very reasonable for an SDS Session, although I think you just got a code read rather than a full diagnostic, which, to be done properly entails 2 - 3 reads with resets, road testing, live data, guided testing and some print outs ................ For the full SDS Diag I charge a minimum of 2 hours, unless it is a really simple easily diag'd and clear cut fault, which this one could well be !!

722.6 Plate never ever needs any programming, cost should be way below £700

722.9, totally different animal, never fitted to R170, £700 would be a reasonable cost for a refurbished plate, fitting, filter, oil etc etc.

W204 and R170 totally different animals, W204 may well have a 722.9.

It would help if we knew exactly which Car we are talking about here.
