I have a Slk 320 2001 and I was looking at the mods available. I looked at the pulleys and stuff but I figured it only makes power on the supercharged ones like the 230, slk 32. I recently changed my spark plugs, oil and doing most of the maintenance for this vehicle. I was wondering what mods do I add to add some more hp? I also looked at the air filters the k&n one but I've read it doesn't do much hp to your car.

After running the lanes of Cornwall it was obvious that the 320 has no issue keeping with R171 350s and 55s.
The 320 is the one taking the videos.

Unless you want to sprint etc I doubt it is worth the expense.

The 320 has petty good power and acceleration and keeps up with most things in day to day driving. However, if you are looking to increase the horsepower you won't get a lot more from the engine I'm afraid without spending a lot of money - for example, you'd need to look at upgrading the brakes as well as the engine as the brakes will rapidly become inadequate as you increase the power.

If you really really want the extra I'd look for a '32 as that supercharges and strengthens the engine, adds much better brakes and improves the gear change with a faster reacting TCU. And will probably cost you less overall.

any driving improvement after the plug change? I am over due and wondering if its worth the effort.... I only drive no Sunday afternoon's, but was wanting to change them out and see if I get a little better performance, she seems sluggish.

Thanks - Andy

How many miles has yours done? It may be time to change the auto transmission fluid and filter.

I noticed more ready acceleration when I changed the plugs - at 96000 miles. I noticed even more when I changed the auto fluid and filter.

Good option - I doubt it was ever done. Picked up this little gem for 800 cash and have been slowly tinkering away at it. Fluid and filter may do the trick - plan on doing this and the reset again this weekend and see what we end up with.

Just a little apprehensive about the plugs - as I will flip the car in 6 -8 months when I get bored with it. Wife usually allows up to one car project and two motorcycle projects in our garage - and I am all out of motorcycles.... :)

Thanks guys!
