New to SLK Forum. until recently never had any problems with my 2000 SLK 230. It has been the most reliable, depedable and best car I have owned. Recently on two separate occasions, my car has unexpectedly accelerated when turning right and going up a slight incline. The car continued to accelerate after I took my foot off the pedal. And it continued to race. No lights indicating any problem. Frightening experience. Braking until car in neutral and finally stopped. Are there any known problems with this year/model? Someone mentioned throttle linkage???

Welcome from New Hampshire. I never heard of anybody having a problem like that, i would get the car to a dealer soon that's nothing to mess with. When you find the problem post the results please.

Your SLK's accelerator pedal is known to fail - the sensor(s) in the pedal assembly that tell the engine computer how far down you are pressing the pedal, specifically. I have read about a few other R170 owners who had the opposite problem, where you push the pedal down and nothing happens, so it could be the sensor in your pedal that isn't telling your computer that you already let up on the gas.

A new pedal assembly from parts.com costs around $140-$200 and can be done by yourself with some care.

I hope this helps, and welcome to the forum.
