How do I remove headlights?

This an excellent forum that really helped make it easy for me to decided upon the LED product that I purchased and also install the H7 low beam LED's in my newly acquired 2015 SLK250. I did end up jacking up and removing each of the front tires just to make it easier for me to access.

However now I am completely mystified regarding how to remove/replace the high beams bulbs. I even tried removed the white plastic coolant tank on the right side and still could not get to the bulb without fear of breaking something. So now I am considering removing the entire front bumper to then remove the headlight assembly so that I can get to things.

So any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Best,
Bob

Sorry can't help on the high beam query. You may get a better response if you ask again in the 'R172 General Discussion' area.

I am interested in what H7 Low Beam LEDs you fitted though?

I installed Leppein S-Series LED headlights in the low beams. They fit into position with no problems and no display error messages. So far I am very pleased with their performance.

However due to the cooling fans dimensions they would not fit in the high beam housing. So I have ordered new LED bulbs from another manufacturer that uses a static heat sink vs. cooling fans. Hopefully these new ones will fit.

I installed HIDs last week on low beam main lights.
obviously they are in the footwell

I now want to do my high beam to colour match.
Isn’t the cap for the high beam in the engine bay ?

Just open the bonnet and feel behind the headlight. I’m sure I even saw the cap. Easy access for the high beam bulbs.
R172 200 here.

You are absolutely correct...the high beam cap is located within the bonnet. The root causes of my problem were two items: #1 - large hands, #2 - due to the cooling fans dimensions they would not fit in the high beam housing.

So I have ordered new LED bulbs from another manufacturer that uses a static heat sink vs. cooling fans thus a smaller profile. Hopefully these new ones will fit. BTW - I found also someone with smaller hands to help me out.

Just a quick update regarding my high beam LED's saga. The good news is that the second pair of H7's that I purchased from Headlight Experts with the smaller profile fan worked out perfectly. So now I have both low and high beam LED's and it awesome.

Below is the link for the high beam LED's. They will also work for the low beams too.
