Daytime running light removal

Hi, has anybody ever had to change the led daytime running light located in the front bumper bar? If you have, how do you remove the fitting? There are no screws holding the light in place, so I am assuming that the fitting is pushed into place. therefore, is it a case of removing the bumper bar, or is there a quicker and easier way? Thanks

If memory serves there are three plastic tags and it just pops out.

I know @JBanks did his 171. Doubt it is much different on the 172.

Hey TonyH61...

4x Torx T10 screws in the grill, pull the grey lock on the electrical tub up and slide connector off.

On the back you will see four plastic locking tabs. Just a case of pushing them towards the centre and gently lever the LED unit up to release. Repeat for the remaining clips and you are good to go. Put the new LED in and push firmly to lock in place.

Sounds more complex than it is actually is.

Daytime driving lights

Hi, thanks for your reply, but there are no TORX screws in the grille. I've had another look and I think I will have to remove the tray from the lower part of the front bumper bar to gain access to the light fitting. I'll take some photos and upload them, when I decide to do the job and hopefully it can be of some help to other members in the future should they have a similar problem

The car by the way, is a 2014 R172 model 250cdi. It isn't the AMG model, which appears to have a different lower grille set up
