Squeaky centre console

Ok so the chassis has flex especially when roof down but had no such irritating squeaks from an MX-5/Audi A3 Cab./Honda S2000 just sold so why with a posh Merc.?
Is there anything I can spray into the joins that will eliminate squeaks but not short any electrics? It's liveable with, just a tad annoying.

Neither of our cars squeak. It shouldn't squeak.

If you spray something it will stop it rubbing for a bit but when the lubrication is rubbed away it will squeak again.

Much better to stop the squeak at source. The entire centre console is actually really easy to strip down. Either add a few foam sticky pads in the offending areas or gently bend the spring clips so they are more secure before putting everything back together.

Or, much less hassle, jam some folded wedges of paper in the gaps until it stops squeaking. Then at least you know where to work on when you do strip it down.

Thanks - I'll try the easy option first. My car a R172 so not sure why this thread was moved here so unsure how easy it is to 'unclip' centre console.

Not heard of a problem with console squeak, but the hard plastic on the seat backs are known to be a source of some noise - especially if the seat(s) is all the way back against the rear bulkhead (do a search on the site for that). Do you know for sure that the squeak is coming from the console and exactly where? If so, can you post a pic of that area?

On my R172 there are two vertical rubber rubbing strips at the top of the seat backs which go some way toward but not entirely eradicating any squeak as they rub against the plastic read bulkhead. To the bulkhead I have placed a black vinyl covered piece of foam which ensures there is no squeak at all.

In the interior are two regular squeak areas: the back of the seat against the back wall and the small part (where the roof switch is) of the armrest against the lid of the rear part of the armrest.

Remedying the first is obvious: adjust the seat. The latter takes two minutes more: the small part has a single bolt under a little black plastic cap. Remove the cap, loosen the bolt, move the armrest a little forward, fasten again etc.
