Left Side Folding Mirror Not working

I have just upgraded my car to have folding mirrors, as the door to my garage is quite a tight squeeze and I have often forgotten to hand fold them when putting the car away, plus driving away with them still folded, hence the reason for the upgrade. I bought the centre switch part number A171 820 43 10 and installed with no problems, both mirrors electrically adjusting. I then purchased both the left and right folding mirrors on eBay, striped the right side mirror and installed the frame into my original mirror, re-assembled on car and tested, working great. Did the same to the left mirror and nothing dead. I then plugged the left mirror into the right side door control module and it works great every time, so the mirror motor is good. Started to check a few things, right door control module is part number A171 820 72 26(00), but the left door control module is part number A171 820 51 26(05). I thought it would have been A171 820 71 26(01). So I suspect the DCM has been changed at some time. Can anyone confirm this ? The car is bog standard no memory package or electrically adjusting seats Anyone out there got any ideas? Does the DCM need SCN coding or do I need a new door control module. I have done search for mirror not working but have not found any solutions.

Thanks in advance

Robert

This may just be a case of coding as the same mirror works on the other side.

My guess is that the right door DCM has been changed. If you have folding mirrors the DCM has to be coded for the presence of this option. My guess is the PO replaced the right door DCM for a used one that came from a car that had folding mirrors. So that's why they work. All you would have to do is to also code the left door DCM.

Can be prone to water ingress into the door module giving a bad connection on the pins to the mirror loom.
Worth a close look at door module plug to see if they are a bit green and a little bit of wd40 will not hurt.

Door control module is bone dry and there is no sign of any corrosion. The car is garaged every night and I never take it out in the rain if I can help it. At the moment it is tucked up in the garage for the winter with a CTEK battery conditioner attached

I don’t think there is anyone in Scotland with DAS, it will have to be the dealership.
