Hi everyone, i’m new here and looking for some advice. I have just gotten my kleemann upgrade for my R171. ECU and headers. I was looking to buy some tires, 19” but was sceptical from post I have seen here, still I have not gotten a really straight answer yet. The rims i’m looking to is 9,5Jx19 E38 on rear wheels and 8,5Jx19 E35 on front wheels. (https://www.cksperformance.com/prod...hed-lip-mercedes-slk-r171?variant=21430494468) The tires will be 255/30R19 on rear and 235/30R19 on front, or atleast i’m hoping if it works without scratching. Do any of you have any idea if these rims and tires will work for my car? If not, what ideas do you have for me to make it work. ? Thank you very much

Your 2005 SLK350 has 7.5" wide/ ET +36/+37 (front) and 8.5" wide/ET +30/+34 (rear) - see link here, hence if you are upgrading from stock 17s to 19s, you'd need the following tire sizes

Fronts: 225-235/30-35/19s (8" rim width), ET +30
Rears: 245-275/25-30/19s (9" rim width), ET +30

The above combos will keep to stock settings and allow you to have similar RPMs and speed read-outs on 19s as stock... I will personally recommend no wider than 235 fronts, on 35mm tall tires, and no wider than 265s on 30mm tall rears, regardless of rim widths you choose.

For reference, I am running 8.5" wide/ ET +35 /235-35-19 fronts; and 9.5" wide/ET +35/ 265-30-19 rears....

And a picture of the look on mine...

Your car is a R172, so it is a little different than the R171. Also, the 30 and 35 number in the tires is the aspect ratio, not a mm measurement. So you take .35 * 235 and that is the sidewall height in mm for you front tires.

OP, you want to go with a high profile on the front than the rear to keep your overall size consistent. Your speed is going to be just slightly off, but 225/35R19 and 265/30R19 are going to be your closest match to size. The rear is pretty wide on an R171. I am running those size rears in 18" and I had to make some adjustments to get them to not rub. 18's give you a lot more flexibility and a better ride if you want to go that route.
