Sudden engine misfire when idling

On my way home this evening my daily driver a 2005 R171 200 with 68k on the clock developed a misfire after driving a couple of miles from cold and when idling at traffic lights. Its the first time it has occurred and no warning lights. A few blips of the throttle and it was fine. The rest of my 20 mile journey including stops was fine.

Is there anything I should be looking at because I don't want this problem to develop and then let me down.

Something wrong with a coil or spark plug comes to mind initially but maybe some of the experts on here could point me in the right direction.

Most likely it was the crankshaft position sensor. At least that was how it happened to my car. From my research, this item will break down sooner or later, so rather just replace it now, only around $40 and 30 min diy
