hi i have a '99 230K, i went to put my roof down a minute ago and the boot seemed to get stuck on the passangers side. the drivers side of the boot raised up about 1" but the passanger side didn't move, i first tryed to gently pull it to see if it was caught on something but that didn't work, i'm thinking that the mechanism that pushes the boot back isn't working on that side. has anyone else had this happen or know whats going on.
thanks gabus sounds like the exact same problem shame he didn't tell us if and how he fixed it will have a look at the website and see what i can do. What would you suggest is wrong could it be something as simple as a fuse or you think i need to replace the actuator, i'll post an update when its fixed explaining what happened and how i fixed it(if i fix it) in case anyone else has this problem.
quick update just explained the problem to my father who said since the actuator's are hydraulic and controlled by one motor/pump and because the driver's side is lifting we decided the motor/pump was working, we figuered it might be the seal on the actuator this would mean that we could lift the boot up a little but as it didn't move we have concluded that something is locking the boot into position and is not unlocking to allow the actuator to raise the boot. i was just wondering if anyone knows how the boot is locked into place when not raising/lowering the roof (also please feel free to tell me if any of the above is wrong as i havn't had chance to check the actual unit itself yet am just trying to get a plan of action for my busy sunday)
thanks for any help anyone can give me on this :usa:
problem solved, the cable that comes from the actuator to the boot locking mechanism to release the boot had snapped will have to get one from mercedes i'll post some pictures later showing excatly which part and where to find it hope this helps you as well omb(will warn you you might need to strip the carpet from your boot and remove the plastic side panel to see if it is the same problem on your car) hope this helps:tu:
this might be still what is wrong with mine. got any pics? :bannana:
