at stealership getting diagnostic on top issue

I had hydrolic cylinders leaking. I rebuilt the cylinders but my top only wants to respond when I push the button to close it.
When I try to open it, it only flashes with no attempt to move.

I am guessing it is a micro switch?

I am hoping they can tell me which switch so I can change it out.

I'll keep you informed.

Fast or Slow flashes?

As slk320chick pointed out to me, look at your package cover/rollup when you get fast flashes .

Thanks slk320chick

Well,They say I need my Front RPM Wheel Sensors replaced ($700) before the computer can correctly read the top codes.

Right now it is showing all my top micro switches are bad. (They say they have never seen them all read bad before.)

They are thinking once the RPM Wheel Sensors are replaced that may fix my problem and my switches will be fine.

They have to order the sensors so they have my car for the weekend. grrr

The top is not supposed to work when the vehicle is moving...so it stands to reason that if the 'puter can't tell if the car is moving or not, it will assume it is moving and will not let you put the top up or down. Darn smart system eh? MB thought of everything, much to our consternation, occasionally.

I wonder whether just fitting a Smart Top, programmed to open when car is 'on the move', would have by-passed or overridden this?

If so, it would have been a double bonous.

I do have the Bipes smart top.
The dealer was very Leary of it and had the same questions for me.

If the smart top bypasses the sensors, they should not effect the top operation. But since the computer told them they needed replacing before it could get accurate reading from top switches, they replaced them.

They could not understand the reasons for a smart top or why anyone would want to drive with the top in operation. Very bad idea in their opinion.
If cylinders get damaged from wind resistance while driving, the replacement cost of the cylinders would be about $2500.

I explained that sometimes your at a red light and want to put the top down and the light turns green, you can continue top operation without holding up traffic.

or operating the top from within the home or office so you can jump in car and go.

They just said they would be careful not to drive too fast or the cylinders could bust and start leaking fluid.
