SLK230 Quarter window problem

Hey everyone

back here with another problem on my slk230, this time it with the quarter windows not going up.

It started when my dad took it out for a ride and he told me the roof button started blinking and beeping while the roof was up, so he figured he should try to put the roof down and see whats wrong. well he put it down then tried to put it up, everything worked fine except the quarter windows not going up. The motor runs under the quarter windows but they dont come up.

I did some research on google and checked fuses and w.e I could think off including the double tap to get the windows up.... so what else can be wrong?

There is a motor that runs a wire that makes the window go up and down. That wire can jump off of its wheel and pulley. If that happened, the wire usually gets wrapped up in the regulator. It can't be fixed and has to be replaced. I do not have the part price since I got mine from a salvage yard. The part cost me $95. The part number is in the PDF.

Just re-read your post and see that it is both windows so I am not sure this is the issue, but thought I would post in case it turns out to be the issue

Here is the DIY I followed.

In my signature there is a link for a troubleshooting guide,
I think it is symptom number 19 "Rear side windows are not raised"
Possible causes are,
Vario roof "locked" limit switch (left rotary tumbler) (S69/3) or
Vario roof "locked" limit switch (right rotary tumbler) (S69/2) or
Trunk lid "open" limit switch (S69/9) or
Left trunk lid "closed/locked" limit switch (S69/7) or
Right trunk lid "closed/locked" limit switch (S69/8) or
Voltage supply for power windows or
Multi-function control module (N10-3) or
Hydraulic pump (A7/5) or
Vario roof solenoid valve (A7/5y1)

In the Top Operation page of the SLK encyclopedia, click on Top Switches & that will show you where all the switches are.

SLK230 Quarter Window Problem

Followed the instructions posted by DIYGirl. Worked great. Purchased a used part on eBay (modernauto63) for less than $100.

Only tip I have is: The part came with the window in the up position. I had to plug it in and electrically motor it to the down position. Be careful not to go to the full down position or else you will have difficulty getting to one of the bolts, on the glass mounting bracket, because the socket access hole will not be aligned with the bolt head.
