Took my new 230 on a 3 hour ride...

Despite my better judgement I threw all my stuff for work in the car today and took off on the three hour trek to where I'll be working for the week. I was hesitant because I have not vetted this car yet. I bought it Friday, spent the weekend with it in the garage fixing the drivers window alignment and the radio. This car is a basket case...But man what a blast to drive. When she gets to the on ramp it's like instant interstate speeds. The ride is stiff, but expected that for a small car. I'm a huge Datsun Z fan so I have a decent idea of what to expect the ride to be like. Handling is something else though. The Z cars are little sloppy where the SLK is very touchy. It even pulls with the lean of the road. Part of this might be the alignment. I want to get a new set of shoes on her and get it aligned. So far fuel mileage looks like high 20's as it used less than a half a tank for just over 150 miles. A couple things I wanted to ask about:

1. Temps seem to sit between 80 and 100C. On the highway/interstate it sat low at or just above 80 and in traffic it sat high right below or at 100.
2. Does it usually rap all the way out to red line when kicking from 2nd to 3rd? There were a couple of times I was starting to wonder if it was going to shift.

Other than those two questions the car was great. I'm truly impressed with how well it handled for a 20 year old car with just shy of 100k on it. I'm finding a lot of little irritating things that previous owners did to it. I tried plugging in my phone charger and fm transmitter and it blew them both up. After banging my head against the wall I pull the cigarette lighter plug out (console is pretty broken up so this wasn't hard) and it looks like someone replace the receptacle at one point, but they wired it backwards. The center positive was negative and vice versa. I cut the wires the swapped and taped them. I'll fix it right with some solder and heat shrink when I get home next weekend. Now I have to buy a new charger... Lots of nasty tape all over the wiring. I just hope they bothered using the right fluids in the engine. The guy that had it before me at least took it to the dealer in 2016. I found paperwork showing the K40 was replaced. As long as it's just these little things I can work around it'll be good for now.
