Stumbled across this on YouTube. I did a forum search and don't think it has been mentioned previously. It might be useful for new and prospective SLK owners. Might even be worthy of becoming a sticky.

It's a 45 minute long Mercedes video giving a very detailed overview of the R170 SLK.

(If the link doesn't work go to YouTube and search for either "The R170 from the Service Angle" or 42g2XSPk)

Hi,

That will be a very useful reference for earlier 4 cylinder R170 owners ...................

I wonder if there is a brother to that video covering the V6 and Facelift Models ?????????????

Cheers Dave

This is a really interesting video, thanks for sharing. I wonder who MB produced it for? For technicians at MB service centres as training to familiarise them with the (then new) R170, or perhaps it's from a press pack for journalists covering its release?

Another SLK video with some nice tips

YouTube offered up another video. This one is pretty much just Mercedes advertising the introduction of the SLK series. It's about 20 minutes long.

https://youtu.be/_e54bH9oea4
But I did get a couple of nice tips that I did not previously know. I did a quick forum search and neither popped up without some pretty specific search terms.

  1. To switch one press of the open button on the key fob from selective (driver door only) to global (both doors, trunk and gas cover), hold down both buttons on the fob for 5 seconds. Do this again to go back to selective mode.
  2. To raise both windows press the Vario button forward twice and hold.
  3. To lower both windows press the Vario button back twice and hold.
