Resolved - How does this electrical connector disconnect

Repainting the interior of my 2001 slk 320 and I can't figure out how to seperate the connector to the cigarette lighter. On my 230 it was the simple three prong. Not this one. Anyone know how?

It's the direction that's important- it's not the direction you'd think looking at it. It's more at a 90 degree to what you'd expect.

I'm still stumped. I don't see any release tabs. Does it slide apart, twist apart , roll out?

Hi,

OK ..............

See in your first picture, the little un latched flap is approx 45 degrees, well imagine it was upright at 90 degrees, that is the direction you must pull the plug up and it will come off, (you don't need that flap un latched btw), I'm just using it as an example of which way to pull up the connector

@efair is correct, it doesn't pull off in the direction you expect it too

HTH, Cheers Dave

It does not twist, and there is no release tab (although you can be forgiven for thinking so). It slides in "sideways", not "length-wise". I'm sorry I don't have a photo editor or I'd mark your photo up.
