What is this cable underneath the rear center console

Took apart the interior of my 1998 slk 230 and 2001 slk 320 to paint and found this cable, in both, under the rear center console. It didn't seem to be attached to anything. What is it and do I need to connect to anything? Perhaps non existent phone?

Hi,

Yes I think it is the "Phone Pre Install" my car had this, I took it all out when I fitted the Android.

Does your Car have a small Black Aerial on the left rear 1/4 panel if so that's a dead cert, your data card will confirm

HTH, Cheers Dave

Yup! Back in the day the option phone was the Motorola Brick Flip with a MB logo and the cable was in the console.

I have a bracket in the top centre console which I think was designed for a Motorola. Had a Viseeo MB4 Bluetooth adapter for a while. Now redundant and using Android.
