Now a starter issue!

Yep it's me again,
Starter went bad, replaced it, now the car wont turn over at all. Mechanic checked starter motor, is functioning ok. Infamous K40 module appears to be fine. No obvious error codes. Am I missing something obvious here that I should have done after replacement?
Any suggestions welcome as where to start ( excuse the pun )

Ian

Does the starter have 12V on the black wire? Does it have when you crank it (test with test light!)?
Does the starter ahve a good ground? Again, test with test light, as it needs more currant than a voltmeter.

Do you get voltage on the other wire (violet/white I believe) when you crank it?

Thanks all,
Replaced K40 module , just in case, still nothing doesn't even crank over. Will get the starter connections checked again and let you know.
I appreciate the help.

The starter relay is in the cycle module, which is inside the fuse box in the engine. I'd start with a scan of the cycle module and all other modules.

The correct functioning of the CAN network is critical here.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, haven't had much time to work on the problem yet, only thing I forgot to mention was that the starter solenoid is " clicking" yet the engine doesn't turn over, don't know if that narrows it down any more or not...…………

Hi,

If you are saying that the Solenoid on the Starter Motor itself, (not the Pulse Module Relay), is clicking then it will either be Big Main Feed lead from Battery, Big Main Earth Strap, Starter Motor faulty, or a bad Battery.

If you are happy your Battery is good then the most likely cause is a dead Starter Motor

HTH, Cheers Dave

Thought I'd better get on and do some work on the old girl, so here's an update:
New battery and starter motor installed, Main lead and earth strap ok
Just noticed the throttle housing is whirring its little head off ( non stop ) when I turn ignition on.
Well at least it's a sunny day here in Indiana!

Starter is clicking, how would hammering help?

The whirring is normal. Did the new starter help?

I see, thanks for the link. I thought the trick can only free up the solenoid, which can also be stuck.

Well guys the problem has been resolved:

It was the das module and pick up ring on the actual ignition switch...……..not cheap unfortunately, but she's running again.
