DTC 200b-000

Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and new to the slk. I have a 2002 SLK 230. I am consistently getting the engine light on with the code P200b-000. There are no noticeable running issues. If I clear the code using my icarsoft unit, the engine light comes back on after approximately 20 miles of driving, but with no change to drivability. The car originally had a MAF sensor issue also, I replaced the MAF sensor but this P200b-000 code remains. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Regards.
Tony.

The first question, I suppose is what make of MAF did you get as a replacement. From what I read on this forum, generic (eBay) MAF's don't seem to work well on the SLK. It should be MB or Bosch or such like.

However, searching for your fault code suggests maybe a cam sensor problem. Read this:

https://www.slkworld.com/slk-r170-ge...b-000-dtc.html

However, it could be this (not good):

https://www.justanswer.com/uk-car/80...ne-engine.html

I wish you the best of luck with it.

Yes, I'm afraid it was a generic ebay MAF. But it has cleared the MAF fault code I was getting. All the information I have found does seem to still point to MAF sensor or wiring. Not found anything to suggest cam sensor though.
Thanks for the reply.

I have just found out some additional info on this. When I got the car the battery was dead, we assumed this was due to the car being unused for a while. However the following day after a long drive home, the battery was again dead. I had to call the RAC, they replaced the battery. The mechanic noticed my engine light on and ran a diagnostic. I have just checked the printout they emailed to me, and it does say P200B AIR MASS METER. So I guess I need to do some fishing around in that area.

Australian is one of our R170 experts.
You have an ebay generic MAF.

If you search the site you will see (as said) ebay generics are notorious for not liking the SLK.
https://www.slkworld.com/new-members...searching.html

Dead battery. Lots of electronics on the SLKs.
A brand new battery is able to discharge on just a few weeks standing.
If standing it is best to use a battery tender.

Ok, thanks for the advice, I will fit a better MAF sensor and see how we go from there.
