Brand New Key

Remember the old days where if you needed a new key for your car, you headed down to your local hardware store and for a couple of bucks, they'd grind you a new one...while you waited.

The key broke off one of my fobs the other day for my SLK230, so I decided to get a new one. I've read a lot of threads on this, so I knew what to expect, but it's still quite the process. First you have to order it (although it only took 3 days to arrive) and when it arrives you have to present a picture ID and proof of ownership of the vehicle....and then pay them $150.

I considered just buying a single key and not the whole fob, but even a single key was $50, so I thought, for another 100 bucks, I may as well get the whole deal.

I do love my car it was all worth it.
